It seems as though spring has been here for a while now. Unfortunately that translated to poor ice conditions for this year’s derby. Nevertheless, we had another great year at the Eagles. A big thank you to everyone that was able to donate their time to making this awesome event happen.
Although I’m loving the warm weather I am hopeful we can get back on the ice again next year. If anyone has program suggestions please send them to Eric Engler.
As always, if anyone knows someone that may be interested in joining Sertoma, please bring them to a Wednesday meeting.

Sertoma means SERvice TO MAnkind.
Sertoma’s focus is to provide financial assistance to the speech and hearing impaired and other worthy causes in our community. Fergus Falls Sertoma Club was chartered on June 30, 1979, and has nearly 25 active members. Sertoma International was founded in 1912 and is the third-oldest civic service organization, with members raising millions of dollars annually for their local communities and international scholarships.
You’re able to get acquainted with other business leaders in a casual and fun environment. Members may attend noon luncheons every Wednesday with guest speakers and periodic evening socials.
Sertoma contributes $6,000 to $10,000 annually to local causes, including sound systems for area schools, hearing dog services, individuals with special needs, Salvation Army, A Center for the Arts, and many more. Most funds are raised with the annual ice fishing derby.
Sertomans engage in a wide variety of social events throughout the year, including golf, fishing outings and RedHawks games in the summer, a bonfire in the fall, and indoor games in the winter, to name a few.
I’ve been a Sertoma member over the last 25 years. During that time, Sertoma has enabled me to meet new people and get to know them as we participated in activities and contributed to the community.
Sertoma is the place where I developed a sense of community. The members, the Sertoma programs, and our work for the speech and heating impaired have taught me a great deal about the Fergus Falls area.
Over the last 37 years, I’ve made lifelong friendships in Sertoma. Sertoma has been one of my main connections to the community; we really enjoy the area while making some very beneficial contributions to it.
